Notice is hereby given that the 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Church Monuments Society will be held at 2.00pm on Saturday, 22nd September 2018 at St Olave, Hart Street, London EC3R 7NB.
This is your opportunity to talk about the Society’s activities and vote for a new President. We will also be unveiling the winner of the 2017 Photography competition.
At the conclusion of business there will be a tour of the monuments, including that of Elizabeth Pepys, and Dr Julian Litten will talk about Samuel Pepys. The meeting will conclude with refreshments.
The nearest underground station is Tower Hill and the nearest railway station is Fenchurch Street. Details of car parks in the area can be found on the internet.
A copy of the Minutes of the 2017 Annual General Meeting is available on the Society’s website and a printed copy may be requested from the Hon Secretary, Hilary Wheeler (address on back cover).
Do make a note of the date so that you will not forget to join fellow members for your meeting. If you are planning to attend and are able to let the Secretary know this will assist with the planning of catering. A new President will be elected at this meeting so this is an opportunity to thank Jean Wilson for her generous and innovative leadership, and to learn something of the new President’s plans.
Item 13: Election of President
Presidents serve for a term not exceeding five years. Any member of the Society, whose subscription is not in arrears, is eligible to stand for election. Candidates must be proposed and seconded by two members of the Society, and should provide a statement of no more than 500 words indicating the qualities and experience that they would bring to the role. Application form are available from the Hon Secretary (contact details on back cover) to whom they should be returned no later than Monday, 13 August 2018.
Nomination forms have been received from Mark Downing and Clive Easter, whose personal statements appear below. The details of further candidates will appear on the Society’s website or printed copies can be supplied by the Hon Secretary.
