Can you identify this monument?

By CMS in Uncategorised

OK – we have a result! Jon Bayliss saw the blog post and identified it as that of Charles Steward, 1701, at Bradford-on-Avon, Wilts. Well done, Jon. Meanwhile, Sally Badham had posted it on Twitter/X and Cameron Newham recognised it, but Jon had got there first.

(The original posting:

Can you help identify this monument? It was found in the papers of Nigel Saul’s father. It was taken in the 1960s and is probably in a church in the Midlands or South-west England. Any thoughts, contact Prof. Saul at n.saul@rhul.ac.uk .)
