Elizabeth Tingle is Professor Emerita in History at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. She works primarily on religion and politics in early modern France, with a particular interest in religious practice and the material culture of churches. Her current project is on sixteenth-century cathedrals in western France. She also works on parish church history and archaeology and is a Council Member of the Royal Archaeological Institute and a trustee of Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust.
