Study Day and AGM 2025

By CMS in CMS news

Our study day and AGM at St Lawrence, Little Stanmore in north London was great fun. As our President said, it was good to be able to take a whole day and place the monuments of this idiosyncratic church in context. Here we are being shown round the church by Stuart Cawthorne, author of St Lawrence Whitchurch its Memorials and its People

The AGM demonstrated the breadth of the Society’s activities – lectures, study days, tours, publications, help and advice for churches with monuments. Formal minutes will be posted on the Governance page.

Of course, the big attraction was the Chandos family mausoleum

A high point for many of us was hearing Zadok the Priest on the organ which Handel himself would have played during his time at Canons Park.

There were good things in the graveyard as well.

More to look forward to on our Events page – the All Hallows lecture series and some more events coming up.
